Great Band…Terrible Fans
First off, a huge "THANK YOU" to my amazing girlfriend for taking me to the Dave Matthews Band concert last night in Charlotte. Second, a big "I'm sorry you had to endure all the hippies, potheads, and underage drinking that went on."
DMB is amazing. They always have been and probably always will be. I'm not going to try to claim myself as the biggest DMB fan ever, but I do like their music. To hear their music is one thing, but to experience it is another. DMB is great, pure and simple.
...However…their fans are not. I thought hippies died with the 70's. I was wrong. I saw a hippy mother with her two hippy children last night that just blew my mind. The little hippy girl had a cute little hippy dress, and the little hippy boy was complete with hippy shorts, a tie-dyed hippy shirt, and hippy sandals). And they were hippy dancing and swinging their hippy arms, probably wishing they had a tree to make sweet hippy love to. DMB fans are loud, obnoxious, drunk, and high. Before the first band comes on, Dave walks up to the microphone to welcome "Everybody that's here and everybody that's still kind-of-here" and then says "I hope you don't get burned too badly (humorous pause)….the sun is hot this afternoon, use sunscreen." To see that much weed being passed around would make Snoop Dogg proud.
One thing amazes me about potheads…they pass around joints like it's no big deal and let complete strangers take hits. But if you get them sober and a total stranger asks to take a bite of their sandwich, I bet they'll be singing a different tune. Now I understand why the 60's and 70's was the age of "free love." People say "When I was a teenager there was no such thing as HIV, AIDS, or STD's." Um….yes there was. You were just too high to realize it.

but i am his greatest fan. well used to be. he is the reason i started playing guitar.

Are you a hippy pothead that likes to make sweet hippy love to trees and do weird hippy dances while swinging your hippy arms in the second hand, pot smoke saturated hippy air?
